Jellyfish, flags and water quality
City water is tested weekly in season and published: the green flag is calm swimming and the occasional jellyfish, a sea visit managed calmly.
The flags explained
Green is incident-free swimming, yellow caution — current or jellyfish — and red no swimming. Lifeguards raise it each morning from testing and conditions: obey without negotiating; it isn't decorative.
When jellyfish arrive
On jellyfish days lifeguards warn by flag and sign: leave the water calmly, don't touch them even dead, and rinse stings with salt water — never fresh — and cold. Most local species sting like a sea nettle.
Water quality
The city publishes weekly tests for every beach in season: quality is systematically good, and after strong storms the universal advice is to wait twenty-four hours past the downpour.
